Man United Star Wayne Rooney Slaps WWE Wrestler Wade Barrett
Louis Van Gaal has been complaining about Manchester United's lack of firepower up front for what seems like forever.
It appears he's been given the next best thing as Wayne Rooney might just have a fire lit in his belly after slapping a pro wrestler who is easily a foot taller than him.
Yes, Rooney tried his hand in the world of scripted professional wrestling as he attended WWE Raw Monday night only to become more of a participant than an audience member after Wade 'King' Barrett called him out on stage.
"In this ring are two men who can be easily be described as championship material," Barrett told the crowd. "Which is, of course, more than can be said of Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.
"I'd hate for your little boy to sit there and watch his own father fail. Because let's face it, he gets to experience that every single time you step on a football pitch."
The situation escalated after Rooney called Barrett down from the stage and what ensued was Internet history:
Rooney can take comfort in the fact that the incident was staged and that the fans loved it.
Who doesn't enjoy watching a tiny yet bullish man (by comparison) slap the confidence and dignity out of a man about the size of a tank?
What he can't take comfort is that he can no longer go to work without looking over his shoulder:
